$200 Billion Mobile Data: Informa Telecoms and Media has published some figures from its World Cellular Data Metrics, predicting that global mobile data services will exceed $200 billion this year, up from $157 billion in 2007. In the first quarter of this year mobile data service revenues exceeded $49 billion according to Informa, a 42.7 percent increase compared to the same period a year ago. Of that total, Informa estimates that non-SMS data was $17.48 billion in the first quarter, or 35.6 percent of total data revenues (which in turn accounted for about a fifth of total operator revenues).

From this we see that the US/Canada region has quite strong data usage—although it should be noted that it is the region with the least number of countries (North America would include Mexico, which would drag down the figure). The Asia Pacific region comprises about 40 percent of the global data revenues according to Informa, and grew about 48 percent year-on-year. The Middle East grew its data revenues by 91.7 percent year-on-year, although it has just 2 percent of the global data revenues. DoCoMo (NYSE: DCM) pulled in the highest non-voice revenues in the quarter ($3.6 billion) pulling ahead of China Mobile ($3.5 billion) which had come first for the previous three quarters, and Filipino operator Smart Communications garnered more than half of its revenue from data due to the high usage of SMS.

EU Mobile Content $17.3 Billion By 2012: Frost & Sullivan has predicted that the European market for premium mobile content will grow from 2.68 billion euros (US$4.22 billion) in 2007 to 11.0 billion euros (US$17.3 billion) in 2012. Music, video/TV and games will lead the growth, but Frost & Sullivan also note social networking, search and LBS as gaining momentum. (Release)

Sub-Continent Data $8.3 Billion By 2013: Juniper Research has predicted that an increasing market for rich-media content and services in the Indian sub-continent will push operator-billed data revenues in the region from $3.0 billion in 2008 to more than $8.3 billion by 2013. Ringtones are currently the most lucrative service, but Juniper reckons that games, mobile TV and full-track downloads will be significant revenue streams within 5 years, and mobile browsing revenues will continue to climb steadily. Growth will be bolstered by 3G networks, although these probably won't be launched until 2009. The number of subscribers in the region is predicted to rise from 431 million this year to 740 million in 2013, with India (unsurprisingly) providing the largest share of revenue followed by Pakistan. The growing mobile market for social networking in this region will also be discussed.

Similar to the Miami event this two day European Social Networking Conference will consist of morning seminars and lectures, followed by afternoon workshops. The workshops will consist of a series of 90 minute intensive lectures that are designed to improve internet social networking business performance. Language issues, cultural differences, technological developments and preferences for specific European countries will be covered at this event. Dating industry executives, marketing representatives, technology executives, affiliates and affiliate managers all stand to learn a great deal in these workshops and are welcome to interject their questions at anytime.
